Controller Position Status: Full-Time, Non-exempt (Hourly) Position
Summary: The Accounting Clerk supports the bank’s accounting
operations by processing financial transactions, maintaining
records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with regulatory
reporting. This role requires strong attention to detail,
proficiency with spreadsheets and accounting systems, and the
ability to ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.

numerous other employee benefits! Key Responsibilities: • Process
accounts payable including invoice coding, entry into the accounts
payable system, check preparation, and invoice scanning/indexing. •
Collect and maintain vendor documentation including workers’
compensation certificates, liability insurance, and tax
identification information. • Review accounts annually for required
tax reporting information including 1099 reporting. • Research and
resolve outstanding expense checks. • Prepare and process daily
accrual entries ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Complete
general ledger accounts for reconciliations and research
discrepancies. • Prepare suggested adjusting journal entries for
supervisor review and approval. • Assist with correspondent bank
fund settlements. • Monitor and analyze accounting records to
ensure compliance with internal controls and policies. • Assist in
preparing administrative and financial reports by gathering
research data. • Prepare teller over/short (offage) reports for
review. • Compile and prepare monthly branch accounting packages. •
Conduct weekly rate surveys and prepare related reports. • Process
rent and lease payments for bank facilities and parking properties.
• Process CD and IRA interest checks and maintain related
spreadsheets. • Process IOLTA payments. • Maintain dormant account
notices and verification of deposit records. • Prepare reports
related to online banking access and system activity. • Perform
daily processing. • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct them
to the appropriate department. • Sort and distribute incoming mail.
• Provide backup support for morning review processes and other
operational tasks as needed. • Satisfactorily complete all required
compliance bank training and comply with all regulations which
apply within the scope of the position. • Other duties as assigned
by management. Education and Experience: Required: High School
Diploma, GED or equivalent. Preferred: Coursework or experience in
accounting, finance, or bookkeeping. Prior experience in banking or
financial services accounting. Skills: • Strong mathematical and
analytical skills with knowledge of basic accounting principles. •
Ability to reconcile accounts and identify discrepancies accurately
and efficiently. • Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing,
and accounting software. • Strong written and verbal communication
skills. • Ability to research errors and resolve discrepancies
using available resources. • Proficiency with ten-key calculator
and general office technology. • Strong attention to detail and
organizational skills. • Willingness to learn new systems, tools,
and procedures. Work Environment: • Work environment is indoors in
a clean atmosphere with normal noise levels. • Ability to work
under deadlines and time constraints. • Standard business hours of
8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday with occasional extended
hours for projects or audits. • Exposed to potentially hazardous
condition—robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to
follow and minimize the risk. Essential Functions: • Ability to
see, hear, speak, and use hands to operate standard office
equipment, including computers, telephones, calculators,
photocopiers, and postage machines. • Ability to read, write,
perform basic mathematical calculations, analyze data, and solve
problems. • Ability to set for extended periods with occasional
standing and walking as needed. • Ability to lift and carry up to
30 pounds at waist height and 20 pounds at shoulder height. Travel
Requirements: I understand that even though my primary work
assignment will be in the Livingston branch; I agree to go to any
other location requested by management. I understand that such
temporary re-assignment will require the use of my personal
vehicle. If I am requested to spend the entire day at a non-primary
location, American Bank will pay for my time spent traveling which
is inclusive from the time I leave my home to the time I return to
my home. In addition, any time that I use my personal vehicle in
such travel, I understand that American Bank will reimburse my
mileage at the current designated IRS mileage reimbursement rate.
