YMCA Location Job Description The Gallatin Area YMCA is an equal opportunity employer committed to valuing diversity and practicing inclusion. In the spring of 2000, a group of caring residents identified a huge gap in the Gallatin Valley for affordable, out-of-school opportunities for children. Recognizing this need, an energetic and passionate volunteer group took it upon themselves to create the basis for the Gallatin Valley YMCA, building affordable programs that met the needs of families and children and welcomed everyone regardless of their ability to pay. After being a "Y without walls" since 2002, renting space at local schools, churches and parks to run our programs yet struggling to keep up with interest and demand, the Gallatin Valley YMCA opened the doors to a newly built facility in 2017. The Board of Directors is seeking a CEO to build on this solid foundation of generous community support and take it to new levels of strengthening the foundations of community. The next leader must re-imagine the Y's future, innovate and elevate the Y's mission, and leverage the Y's unique ability to serve all members of the community. Membership: 978 membership units and 1,421 members with the following breakdown: 22% adult, 16% dual, 27% family, 27% senior (includes Tivity), 4% youth, 3% military, 1% corporate. Programs: Core programs include summer day camp (multiple site locations), Y Achievers (summer learning loss) and a variety of youth and preschool sports. Fitness and wellness offerings include mind/body, Silver Sneakers, Zumba, cycling, a variety of group exercise classes and Re-Charged which is a 12-week program for participants in cancer treatment. The Y also operates the Hawks Nest Early Learning Center (0-5 YO) located at Bozeman High School. Financial: The 2021 budget is $1.4M and operates on a calendar year fiscal year. 2020 expenses totaled $1.5M and GVYMCA received pandemic-related federal and state support to assist in sustaining operations. The GVYMCA is servicing $2.8M in debt with a USDA loan. Fundraising: The GVYMCA raised $91,000 in 2020, reflecting community support for our role in supporting kids and families during the pandemic. The annual campaign goal for 2021 is $75,000. The GVYMCA completed a $4.8M capital campaign in 2016. This resulted in our current 22,000 sqft. facility. $75,000 was raised in 2020 for updated equipment and a small facility update. Facility: The facility is 3 years old and has 2 group fitness rooms, a programming/multipurpose room, a Board room and a cardio/weight room. Staff: The CEO has three direct reports - an associate executive director, a director of administration/finance and a marketing director. There are a total of 18 FT staff and 30 PT staff, and an additional 20-30 staff are added seasonally. Volunteers: 12 policy volunteers serving on the Board and 500 volunteers supporting the organization in programs and activities. The Board is currently finalizing a new strategic plan which will span 3-5 years. Community Benefit: In 2020, $30,000 was provided in financial assistance to individuals and families. Partnered with the Bozeman School District to provide full-day childcare and educational/online learning support for 354 youth ages K-9th grades whose parents were school district employees. This allowed those parents to continue to be employed and provide a high-quality educational experience for all youth in the Bozeman School District. Provided childcare for 77 kids whose parents or guardians were deemed "essential workers" during March, April & May during the shutdowns due to COVID-19. Service Area: The Gallatin Valley area has a population of 112,000 and the median age is 33.5. While Bozeman is the largest city and county seat (50,000 people), the GVYMCA is physically located halfway between Bozeman and Belgrade (population 10,000) and also sits central to a handful of rural areas, such as Springhill, Four Corners, Gallatin Gateway, Amsterdam, and Churchill. The county's median household income is $61,499. Demographics include: 94.7% White/Non-Hispanic, Black or African American .5%, American Indian/Alaska Native 1.1%, Asian 1.6%, Hispanic or Latino 4%, Two or more races 2.1%. Community & Attractions: Bozeman is a scenic and thriving town nestled in the Rocky Mountains. It is home to Montana State University, a Research I level university with 17,000 students, and was ranked as the fastest-growing city of its size in 2018. Outdoor adventures are plentiful with Yellowstone nearby (90 minutes) and the Gallatin Valley sits at the foot of four mountain ranges. From world-class skiing in the winter to fly fishing, biking, hiking and rafting in the summer, it is a nature lover's paradise. The Bozeman-Yellowstone International Airport offers non-stop flights on eight different airlines to over 20 destinations, including New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, and Dallas. Bozeman's mile-long Main Street frequently appears on Top-10 Best lists and is bustling with locally-owned shops and restaurants. The Gallatin Valley's economy is largely supported by agriculture, tourism, and a burgeoning tech industry. The Bozeman School District and its surrounding communities' school districts (Belgrade, Monforton, Anderson, Gallatin Gateway) all have an outstanding reputation for quality and achievement and the GVYMCA sits roughly in the center of all of the K-12 schools in the greater Bozeman area.
