Job Description:

pieces of the grid to go faster. As a Protection Engineer in
Engineering Services, you'll provide solutions and services that
help our customers protect and control critical electrical
infrastructure and power systems worldwide
As a Protection Engineer, a typical day might include the
following:
Possessing, understanding and applying the fundamental concepts,
practices and procedures of power system protection and related SEL
products.
Training and assisting customers with the creation, design,
configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and
operation of automation and/or protection systems.
Completing and implementing assigned work within agreed upon scope,
schedule and budget to a high level of quality and safety.
Participating in the preparation of functional design
specifications.
Preparing and maintaining detailed design documents, reports,
checklists, test reports, and deliverables.
Following and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and
World Class Manufacturing Principles.
This job might be for you if:
You have knowledge of electric power system protection and control,
integration and/or automation and communications applications
Have working knowledge of electric power system design, studies,
information and communication technology and protective relay
applications
You are willing to travel about 25%
You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
You like to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline
5+ years relevant application experience with electric power
systems, industry practices, and protection area practices and
philosophies (System protection, protective relays and their
applications, settings, and testing)
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Location
This position will be supporting a key customer located in Butte,
MT. While residing in the state of Montana is preferred, we are
open to considering other locations with periodic travel to the
Butte area. Preferred locations include, but are not limited to:
Boise, ID; Salt Lake, UT; Billings, MT; Idaho Falls, ID.

Salary Range Data
We anticipate filling this position as a Project Engineer III or
Senior Engineer $116,900 - $168,100 per year. We are open to
reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and
the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our
salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
We base our starting pay offer and title on location and
job-related factors such as candidate experience, training,
knowledge, and skills.
