SUMMARY:A System Designer works on a project team, under the
guidance of the Department Manager and is responsible for designing
projects on time, on budget, and to the customer's highest
satisfaction. On a daily basis the System Designer is accountable
for generating and proofing CAD drawings, validating material
lists, and creating accurate and complete equipment
requests.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the timely completion and delivery of project documents
necessary to communicate to clients, field personnel, and others
the intended wiring design, layout and appearance of individual
components of the project.
- Maintain proactive and regular communication, internally and
externally, verbally and in writing, with clients, general
contractors, and other project representatives to keep others
informed about technical aspects of the project.
- Provide technical support to project installation and
procurement teams.
- Provide technical sales support to sales team members, clients,
and other project stakeholders.
- Stay current on technical and industry trends that may affect
system designs, such as the emergence of new technologies,
sub-systems, components, and product lines.
- Maintain Queue organization and structure by keeping the
assigned tasks up to date and within the requested
timeframes.SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Helping maintain an organized and accurate database by
reporting any issues/concerns to your manager, things such as
discontinued product, improper markups, missing labor,
etc.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to conceptualize technical component interactions and
installation environments to ensure a functional design prior to
physical installation
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications and
architectural blueprints
- Ability to perform calculations, analyze reports, and engage in
strategic and creative problem-solving
- Attention to detail and strong work ethic
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
- Self-motivated and committed to delivering high-quality
projects on time and on budget
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Flexible and creative
- The drive to remain current on technology and trendsEDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience in electronic system design and
installation EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field preferred or a
combination of education and experience.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in D-Tools,
Visio, AutoCAD, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Highly knowledgeable in blueprint reading, building, and
electrical plans.
- Commercial and residential construction experience.COMPLEXITY &
DIFFICULTY:Degree of Supervision/Independence
- General - instruction, advice and assistance available as
needed. Review of work may be frequent but not usually detailed.
Emphasis is placed on quality of completed assignments.Decision
