Job Description:

University Catering provides full catering services for campus and other contracted events. A sample of the 2000+ events worked per year include: VIP meals, banquets, buffets, served meals, coffee breaks, drop-offs, and sack lunches. The number of catered events can be upwards of 15-35 daily.

Duties and Responsibilities University Catering is hiring two management positions. These managers work as a team alongside the Catering Executive Chef providing a high level of customer service to successfully execute events. The Sales Director focuses on sales, event menus, and event presentation details for clients.

Oversees all aspects of the sales office's day to day activities.

Supervises the sales staff (3 full time and banquet student staff when needed - hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, etc)

Ensures clients expectations are being met (budgets, menus, presentation/service, etc)

Oversees billing and collections

Actively interacts with clients, selling, and executing events.

The Banquet Manager focuses on event presentation details and decor, delivery of service, and quality product.

Oversees all aspects of the back hall's day to day activities

Supervises the banquet staff (2 full time and 25+ student and temporary staff - hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, etc)

Actively manages the back-hall production area including event set-up, food presentation, service, cleanup activities, and storage of catering items

Ensures clients expectations are being met (presentation/service, food quality, etc)

Understands trending catering ideas and provides current strategies for presentation and service.

Each position actively participates as a member of the team while performing other duties in support of the department's mission.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Advanced degree or certificate in business, hospitality or related field(s) plus progressively responsible catering experience or or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficient experience working with a computer database plus demonstrated skills using a variety of other software programs. Experience supervising, training, and organizing the work activities of employees. Extensive customer service experience and interpersonal skills dealing effectively and diplomatically with a variety of people.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Catering and/or high activity food service management experience. Extensive experience executing catering event orders. Significant experience creating client menus.

Work schedule will vary week to week depending on the needs of the department. Work early mornings, nights and/or weekends and holidays dependent on event schedule. Physical Demands To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Normal office, kitchen, cooler, freezer, and dock environments. Stationary and/or moving about for long periods of time. Work for long periods of time on the computer and/or the phone. Move all sorts of shapes and sizes of food service delivery and presentation items weighing up to 30lbs; occasionally moving containers weighing up to 50lbs. Use small kitchen utensils and other work related equipment. Perform repetitive motions while decorating, plating, or cleaning.
