The Office of Veterans Services and Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) collaboratively work together to support military-affiliated students and their mental health needs. The Office of Veterans Services works closely with veteran students to support them in their time at MSU as they pursue their academic goals. CPS is an IACS accredited counseling center and is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team who specialize in college mental health. Staff provide group, individual, and couples counseling; consultation to parents, faculty, students, and staff; and outreach and preventive programming to the campus community. Counseling and Psychological Services holds a central value of respect for diversity and differences. Duties and Responsibilities

At least 65% of the counselor's time will be spent providing direct clinical services (individual, group, intakes, risk assessment and intervention) with an emphasis on providing services to MSU's veteran population. Participate in outreach, interdisciplinary collaboration and consultation activities, after-hours on-call, and crisis intervention to the university population. Work closely with the CPS liaison with MSU's Office of Veteran Services and develop outreach, education, and prevention activities for veteran students. If not licensed, receive individual supervision from a licensed staff person and attend training seminars, diversity seminar, clinical team meetings, and perform other duties as assigned by the Director.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Master's degree or higher in a mental health field (counseling, psychology, social work) from an accredited academic program. Clinical experience working with adults. Clinical experience working in a university counseling center. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and cultural humility in clinical work.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Licensed as a mental health professional in Montana. Clinical experience working with crisis intervention and risk assessment. Experience providing outreach and consultation to a university population. Specialized training in working with PTSD, military sexual trauma, and substance use concerns.

Maintain confidentiality of records and information. Have the ability to effectively use computer programs and office equipment to complete job duties and assist in agency functioning.

The counselor will be expected to work some evening hours.
