Coffee Bar Manager?Qualifications include:??Experience managing staff desired. Experience preparing specialty coffee drinks, fresh juices and smoothies preferred. Excellent customer service & communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Ability to lift 30 lbs. repeatedly, occasionally 50lbs; ability to stand for long periods and bend and twist repeatedly. Experience working with email and MS Office software sufficient to communicate, and to prepare reports with accuracy and in a timely manner desired.?Position is open until filled. Apply online. Resume and cover letter required.?Purpose: Manages all aspects of the Flying C; ensure smooth operations and help maintain, grow, and lead a successful department. Promote strong morale of employees, outstanding service, and uphold the vision and mission statement of the Co-op. Participate in product management, selection and purchasing. Manage staff to meet objectives for quality, margin, sales, labor and service.Reports to: CWM Retail Operations ManagerSupervises:?Lead Barista, BaristaWages:?Salary DOE, starts at $41,600Status:?Full-time; 5 days/wk, early mornings, evenings, at least one weekend shift required. Some holidays may be required at times with the ability to cover shifts on short notice.??Management PracticesLeadershipUphold the mission and values of the Community Food Co-op; understand the co-operative principles and business model. Embody and foster integrity, and pride in the Co-op.Ensure that you and your staff provide friendly, genuine, and knowledgeable customer service to customers, vendors, other staff and peers.Ensure that you and your staff keep current on Co-op policies and procedures, and other information specific to your department.Continue to develop your own skills and behaviors as a manager.Keep confidentiality as directed or as seems appropriate to the situation.Exhibit the professionalism, knowledge, and confidence to make good decisions day-to-day, and to lead in difficult and emergency situations.Build a team of goal setting, self-motivated people who are committed to Co-op values, mission statement and objectives.Practice clear, professional, and proactive communication with all staff at the Co-op, and all vendors and others outside of the organization.Actively participate in meetings following established ground rules.Communicate departmental or organizational changes positively and with enthusiasm, and the knowledge to explain the ?why.?With your manager, proactively plan to adapt to changing circumstances and market environments.Ensure that staff has access to a manager or lead, preferably within your location, during all shifts.???Set clear standards and expectations, ensure that staff understand them and have the training and tools needed; promptly address performance and behavioral issues.Consistently hold staff to the same standards.Whenever possible, encourage staff to take ownership over their performance and development, under your guidance and supervision.?OperationsWork with your manager to ensure that systems and practices are in place to operate efficiently and profitably, adapting as necessary.? Communicate changes to all who need to know.Participate in future planning with an open mind and willingness to contribute.Promote safety awareness for all department staff.Ensure training and compliance at all times with regulations on food safety and sanitation practices, alcohol sales, and all other laws or regulations applicable to your department. ?Communicate staffing, training, or equipment needs, and other similar information to your manager promptly.Ensure adequate staffing levels; work shifts yourself if necessary.? Demonstrate regular, predictable attendance.?Complete goals and work plan tasks in a timely manner, meeting established deadlines.Ensure that your department responds to Marketing, Scan, HR and other departments? requests promptly.Check and respond to email, phone, and, where applicable, text messages at least once every work day.Communicate with your manager in the event that ongoing workloads exceed regular work hours for you or your staff.Regularly communicate policy or procedural changes, and product knowledge to staff.?Staff Management and SupportUnderstand, follow, and ensure that staff understand and follow Co-op policies and department procedures.Understand and follow all established personnel-related procedures, protocols, and timelines including hiring, training and development, and performance and behavioral issues.Collaborate with your manager and/or the HR Manager, as needed or directed, on personnel-related matters.Consult with your manager, then the HR Manager, before an employee is let go, and at the Written Warning stage or if deviating from the progressive action steps.Immediately consult with the HR Manager or General Manager on any issues related to potential or suspected sexual harassment, bullying, theft, drug or alcohol use at work, and other unacceptable or questionable behaviors or misconduct, and serious medical conditions (physical or mental).Use thorough documentation practices in all areas of personnel management and submit promptly to HR.?Financial PracticesDevelop and maintain working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals, using Excel and other computer-based tools.Meet labor, sales and margin goals determined in conjunction with the Controller or General Manager, or your manager.?Communicate relevant sales, margin, and labor goals to staff on a regular basis.??Merchandising, Product Management and Presentation (as required by position)Ensure the creation and maintenance of an aesthetic, engaging, and comfortable shopping experience within the retail locations.Ensure the preparation or presence of consistently high quality and attractive products that produce strong sales or meet specific customer demand, as determined with your manager.Ensure adequate product and supplies are ordered and available for your department. ???????????Ensure that invoices are created and processed properly and delivered in a timely manner. ???? ?Oversee and/or participate in periodic inventory counts as needed.?ConfidentialityDue to the sensitive nature of the information dealt with, all financial or personnel-related information will be held in strictest confidence unless otherwise directed by the General Manager or Human Resource Manager.Specific Responsibilities of Flying C Coffee Bar ManagerStaff Supervision and SupportImplement hiring, training, coaching and correction, check-ins, and accountability for Flying C staff in a timely and appropriate manner; follow all Co-op policies and expectations.Provide leadership by guiding, directing, instructing, and motivating Flying C staff; build and maintain a team of self-motivated people who are committed to Co-op values, mission statement, and objectives.Provide direction and feedback to staff to ensure that standards for customer service, product quality, and productivity are being met.Schedule Flying C staff using Orbital to adequately staff the department established goals for service and labor expense.Ensure all staff understand and use protocol for attendance and covering shifts.Schedule one-on-one meetings with staff as necessary.Fill shifts and cover shifts in emergencies.?Department MaintenancePlace timely requests with Food Service Purchaser to ensure adequate amounts of ingredients, food preparation, storage containers, and packaging supplies are on hand.Collaborate with Pastry Manager, to maintain an attractive and full pastry case; recommend changes to pastry offerings and complete inventory and waste tracking as directed.Coordinate the merchandising of cases to ensure abundance and cleanliness as well as accurately priced and labeled items; ensure clean and legible signage throughout the department.Ensure proper storage, product rotation, and labeling procedures; direct staff to package and stock pastry items with short shelf life in downstairs retail areas as directed.Ensure all staff adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines of GCCHD; maintain clean, orderly seating areas.Ensure that unsellable items are recorded and properly disposed of.Role model beverage preparation techniques and internal service.Maintain department equipment in working order; coordinate scheduled maintenance with Facilities Manager. Research and recommend equipment repair or replacement as necessary.?Cashier ResponsibilitiesEnsure day to day security and accuracy of cash.Monitor cash over/shorts and give feedback to cashiers.Troubleshoot equipment breakdown, reporting issues to the appropriate people.?OtherMeet with CWM Retail Operations Manager regularly to review Flying C operations and performance.Ensure accuracy of the Cost of Goods account in the general ledger report, monthly.Complete other duties as assigned.?QualificationsThree years? experience, preferably in a food service or retail setting, that demonstrates the ability or aptitude to successfully meet all expectations listed above.Experience preparing specialty coffee drinks, fresh juices, and smoothies preferred.Ability to interpret budgets and margin requirements preferred.Experience working with email and MS Office software sufficient to communicate, and to prepare reports with accuracy and in a timely manner desired.Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; some early mornings, evenings, holiday, and weekend shifts required.Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally 50 lbs.Ability to stand for long periods and to bend and twist repeatedly.Ability to lift product overhead and/or to climb ladders with product.
