Job Description:

NURSING SUPERVISOR Medical Specialty In collaboration with the shared leadership team in the ambulatory setting, the Clinic Nurse Supervisor - Medical Specialty will engage in the planning, organizing, and directing of patient care delivery in the medical specialty clinics. This position will work in collaboration with nursing leadership to develop and implement patient care policies that are based on evidence and/or best practice nursing standards and comply with regulatory requirements. As new nursing knowledge and innovations in practice advance, the Clinic Nurse Supervisor is responsible to lead their application into practice and ensure standardized implementation in their clinic while working closely with other nurse leaders and other members of the shared leadership team. The Clinic Nurse Supervisor serves as a member of the Department of Nursing and has dedicated responsibility for all hours of operation to ensure effective nursing care with a focus on patients and nursing staff. The Clinic Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the nursing staff including appropriate staffing levels to ensure quality and safe patient care. The position will lead, supervise, evaluate and develop the nursing team through the day to day practices and change. This position will be responsible to ensure policies, procedures, guidelines, and department specific nursing instructions are implemented and followed. The Clinic Nurse Supervisor will ensure the nursing team within the clinic is aligned with the overall mission, vision, values, and culture of Bozeman Health. The Clinic Nurse Supervisor - Medical Specialty will have direct supervision of all nurses within the medical specialty clinics. This individual will work in a shared leadership model with operations, nursing and medicine within the medical specialty teams as well as be a contributing member of the nursing leadership team. ---REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION Required: ---Bachelors Degree in Nursing or higher-----Exception: Employed staff of Bozeman Health: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a commitment to enrolling in a bachelors in nursing program within the first year of hire and completion of the degree within 2 years of hire. LICENSURE and CERTIFICATION Required: --- Current Montana RN License, in good standing-----BLS- with American Heart Association as a Health Care Provider Preferred: --- Certification in Ambulatory Nursing EXPERIENCE Required: -----2 years ambulatory or acute care nursing experience Preferred: -----Computer skills- hardware, software, electronic health record operating systems--- Prior supervisory experience of clinical nursing staff KNOWLEDGE--OF, --SKILLS IN,--ABILITY TO, COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY: KNOWLEDGE OF: --- Knowledge of current leadership, management, and clinical performance improvement concepts-----Knowledge of current evidence based practice-----Knowledge of nursing best practices and efficiencies SKILLS IN: --- Strong critical thinking-----Strong nursing clinical practice-----Organizational and time management skills-----Well developed planning and organizational development skills-----Effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills-----Experience planning and implementing organizational/system change ABILITY TO: --- Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner-----Ability to work in a team environment, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain positivity-----Ability to blend business competencies and skills with the core ideology of nursing and other clinical disciplines COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY: --- Demonstrates integrity; is ethical in conduct and decision making-----Demonstrates initiative, creativity, flexibility, and accountability-----Work independently with a minimum of supervision --- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 20% Time Spent - CARE PERFORMANCE: To sustain high value care through stewardship of resources, efficiency, and effectiveness of operations, a culture of continuous improvement and advancing the role of philanthropy. --- Complies with all policies, procedures, state and federal regulations, and professional standards of practice.-----Assists with developing and maintaining policies and procedures to guide and direct activities of the department.Educates staff on standards, policies, and procedures-----Maintain survey readiness for regular requirements related to department of responsibility-----Continuous improvement using the ISO-9001 methodology-----Orchestrates multiple activities to accomplish a goal, uses resources effectively and efficiently-----Maintains awareness of DNV and CMS accreditation standards and provides ambulatory nursing staff with the information needed to maintain compliance-----Identifies and supports the implementation of Bozeman Health's annual operating plan in the ambulatory setting In collaboration with the system directors, managers and department of nursing facilitates successful implementation of projects related to designated area of oversight. 20% Time Spent -
