values of our dedicated team. Summary The Clinical Nurse
Manager-will work in admissions and review possible referrals,
accept patients and coordinate their stay and help complete
admission assessments and paperwork. The position is a peer to the
DON and MDS nurses and shares some Director of Nursing duties. The
position is responsible for the administration of the residential
care facility to maintain standards of resident care, and advises
the Administrator and Department Heads in substantial matters
related to resident service. This position is responsible
personally and/or through subordinate supervisors and personnel,
for carrying out the organization’s objectives. Some of the
essential duties are included below: Shares call, both for
management and for picking up called-off shifts, every third
weekend, with DON and MDS nurse and additional floor nurse shifts,
as needed for extended times off for main nurses, like sharing
covering vacations. Developing and maintaining nursing policies and
procedures that reflect current standards of nursing practice and
facility philosophy of care consistent with state laws and
regulations. Establishing and implementing infection control
program designed to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable
environment and to prevent the development and transmission of
disease and infection. Monitoring staff for compliance with OSHA
mandates on workplace safety. Monitoring the provision of care and
services to residents on all shifts and evaluates regulatory
compliance efforts through daily rounds to observe care on halls,
to review records and to interview staff members, residents,
families and other interested parties. Actively participating in
the long term care survey process by instructing staff in matters
of conduct and disclosure, maintaining a presence at all times
surveyors are on-site and directing the timely collection of
information required by the survey team. Collaborating with
Administrator to develop responses to survey reports as needed.
Conducting quality assessment and assurance activities, including
regulatory compliance rounds to monitor performance and to
continuously improve quality. Developing programs to gather and
analyze data for trends and to institute actions to resolve
problems promptly. Reports and makes recommendations to Quality
Assessment and Assurance Committee. Participating in the
development of the department budget. Developing staffing plans
that assure sufficient staffing to meet direct care needs,
recommends numbers and types of nursing personnel necessary to
provide care and to maintain compliance with facility mission and
federal and state requirements. Ensuring 24 hour availability as
nursing administration resource by providing on-call and telephone
access or designating an alternative, qualified nursing staff
member to do so. Maintains current skills and knowledge through
continuing education and applies information to job
responsibilities. Initiating studies to evaluate effectiveness of
nursing services in relation to their objectives and costs.
Communicating with facility Administrator on a regular basis to
discuss resident care, personnel and budget issues. Assisting with
medications such as I.V.s, calculated dosages, and PRN medications.
Auditing clinical records for accuracy and completeness of
comprehensive resident assessments, effective documentation
reflecting resident responses to interventions and consistent
implementation of plans of care by all staff and professionals, on
all shifts. Participates in interdisciplinary conferences as needed
to develop adequate plans of care. The successful candidate should

Thorough understanding of policies and federal, state, and local
employment laws and regulations applicable to long term care
industry. Education and Experience: Four-year college or university
program certificate from an accredited school of nursing preferred
or two to four years related experience. Registered nursing license
