Description: In this position, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
performs Nuclear Medicine procedures to obtain desired imaging
results according to physician specifications. Responsibilities
include transferring patients for examinations and assisting with
the Nuclear Medicine examination process. The technologist is
responsible for the appropriate operation of all Nuclear Medicine
imaging and related equipment. They educate, position, immobilize,
and perform Nuclear Medicine procedures. Coordination of Nuclear
Medicine examinations is essential to ensure timeliness, quality,
and continuity of patient care. The technologist must understand
and follow provider imaging orders correctly. They submit required
images and related clinical information to the Radiologist for
interpretation. Appropriate evaluation of image quality is
critical. Open, accurate, and responsive communication with
patients, coworkers, Radiologists, and leadership is required. They
utilize, charge, and maintain department supplies effectively.
Practicing sterile technique and following infection prevention
policies is mandatory. The ability to handle multiple
tasks/projects and meet deadlines is important. The technologist
safely performs Nuclear Medicine procedures, including patient
transfer. They prepare and administer radioisotopes according to
Radiologist protocol. Following Radiation Safety Measures (ALARA)
is essential to ensure patient and staff safety. Maintaining
adequate records of radioisotope receipts, use, storage, and
disposal in accordance with state and federal guidelines is
