JOB INFORMATION SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated Area Manager of Medical Device Operations. In this position you are responsible for performing in a leadership role to monitor financials, staffing, regulatory compliance, and policy and procedure implementation; for coaching the team of Sales Representatives in their assigned area to meet company sales growth goals and marketing Rotech services to physicians, ancillary healthcare professionals and to the hospital community; for meeting goals and objectives that are defined as a company standard for industry growth and a sales team---s performance; for increasing revenue, increasing market share with effective sales team management and utilizing an effective marketing strategy to enhance the overall success and growth of Rotech Healthcare; and for hiring, training, and oversight of all clinical staff and activities within their defined area.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Availability to travel up to 70% of the time with frequent overnight travel required
  • Accountable for revenue growth and area profitability management
  • Communicates clear expectations to all area personnel regarding their job responsibilities and priorities as set forth in Rotech---s policies and procedures and communicates updates to policy in a timely manner
  • Conducts field travel with sales team to assess effectiveness of sales efforts and to provide coaching opportunities
  • Develops and implements a proactive plan for recruiting new Respiratory Clinicians to fill open positions on a timely basis
  • Directs the interview process, hiring process and the orientation of all Respiratory Clinicians (working in conjunction with Location Manager and Region Clinical Specialist); may delegate some aspects of the training to others, the AM carries the ultimate responsibility for coordinating the initial orientation and training of new Respiratory Clinicians
  • Ensures achievement of A/R objectives for the area
  • Ensures clinical staff are available to all personnel in area for consultation on clinical issues and questions
  • Ensures project deadlines and performance standards are met
  • Ensures that all employees in assigned area are compliant with Rotech Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) and Code of Conduct and are trained and knowledgeable with all Medicare regulations and compliant with the Medicaid regulations in the states in which they operate
  • Ensures that all facets of the area (Customer Service, Patient Service, Clinical, Sales, and Management) are adhering to policies and procedures
  • Ensures that area complies with operational procedures, regulatory compliance, and JCAHO regulations
  • Ensures that audits for clinical, operations, and sales are completed for each location at least twice per year; ensures that any deficiencies noted on the audit are resolved in a timely manner
  • Ensures that competency testing has been performed and documentation is on file for all employees in assigned area as required by Rotech---s policy and procedures.
  • Ensures that Respiratory Clinicians that are practicing in one or multiple states carry appropriate licensure in all states served (i.e., copies of all licenses are available in personnel files and kept current)
  • Evaluates Location Managers (LCM) for accountability, performance, and productivity and provides feedback, coaching, and training
  • Executes budgets within the Area and locations, identifies negative variances and uses sound business practices to correct
  • Hires subordinate staff and ensures they receive adequate training and have competencies on file for tasks requiring documented competency per policy and procedure
  • Keeps updated on industry and market place trends
  • Manages a process that tracks and measures the performance and productivity of the area sales team
  • Manages performance evaluations for success of all employees
  • Monitors financial reports of area and locations looking for opportunities to improve performance and implementing timely corrective action plans
  • Monitors staffing levels, expenses, equipment utilization, and inventory to ensure maximum location and area performance
  • Monitors state and local regulation (e.g., state licensure, Medicaid regulations) along with regional contracts (e.g., Veterans Administration, Managed Care) pertaining to the delivery of home respiratory care and ensures that all employees in assigned area are meeting those requirements
  • Monitors the daily activities through the Clinical Activities Database (CAD), Delivery Activities Database (DAD) and Route Sheets, working with the Location Manager and Region Manager to ensure proper utilization of personnel. CAD and DAD reports for each location will be reviewed at least monthly
  • Provides a safe working environment for all employees in compliance with all federal, state and local laws including: DOT, FDA, EEOC, OSHA and other agencies
  • Provides leadership and accountability within Area
  • Supports ongoing training of clinical staff working in conjunction with Location Manager and Region Clinical Specialist to meet state licensure requirements for respiratory clinicians or a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education per year
  • Understands and implements medical regulations and guidelines for reimbursement
  • Works closely with Region Manager to implement policies, protocols, programs, company initiatives, and tools to improve performance and achieve company goals
  • Works with management to implement growth plan and manages the LCM and Sales Representatives to market core service and products
  • Performs other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities
    • Conducts annual appraisals and career path mentoring
    • Develops and manages professional development plans for all direct reports
    • Maintain appropriate call schedule to facilitate feedback in a timely manner
    • Maintains appropriate documentation regarding personnel performance
    • Maintains sales team profiles, active referral account information and market analysis data for all locations within area
    • Provides field travel supervisory support to direct report staff for coaching and account growth
    • Responsible for the supervision of the Locations Managers within the Area Job Requirements: Employment is contingent on
      • Background investigation (company-wide)
      • Drug screen (when applicable for the position)
      • Valid driver---s license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position)Education and/or Experience
        • Bachelor---s degree plus a minimum of three years directly-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience highly desired
        • Previous management, sales and clinical experience requiredSkills, Knowledge and Abilities
          • Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with physicians, location employees and patients to ensure questions and concerns are processed in a timely manner
          • Helpful, knowledgeable and polite while maintaining a positive attitude
          • Interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of communication mediums
          • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
          • Knowledge of insurance policies and requirements
          • Knowledge of P&Ls, financials and budget analysis
          • Knowledge of third party billing and contracts
          • Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
          • Must be able to clearly communicate expectations and information in both one-on-one and group settings
          • Multi-task along with attention to detail
          • Self-motivation, organized, time-management and deductive problem solving skills
          • Strong business judgment, decision-making, negotiation and leadership skills
          • Able to review and understand a variety of financial, employee performance, and management reports and apply to management of personnel 4 of 4
