This individual will assist in program planning, curriculum development, student selection, and M.S. coordination; gathering and monitoring program feedback, and analyzing program operation and procedures information; plus, coordinate graduate committees. The M.S./DI combined program is a teaching and outreach program, as students and interns will be engaged in serving people at every stage of life with practical applications to enhance human health. The M.S./DI combined program promotes the integration of learning, discovery, service and engagement in various dietetic practice settings located in rural and urban facilities in Montana. The Assistant Director will be required to work independently with very little supervision, to act on behalf of the DI director and make programmatic decisions in the director's absence, represent the director and program at various meetings, and overall, be able to utilize professional knowledge, judgment and skills to make decisions, and clearly communicate the priorities and views of the director and program in a clear and concise manner. The Assistant Director will engage in program planning, curriculum development, and M.S. coordination; gathering and monitoring program feedback, and analyzing program operation and procedures information; plus, coordinate graduate committees. The Assistant Director will be required to efficiently orchestrate multiple priorities and deadlines, while keeping the program director apprised of any issues or problems that may arise in a timely manner. Duties and Responsibilities + MS program development, management and annual implementation. + Coordinate faculty for teaching new MS online coursework. + Provide support to faculty for new syllabus development to include the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) required competencies. + Develop documents for new coursework and submission in the CIM System. + Set-up MS student graduate committees and serve as a member. + Coordinate MSU Graduate School admissions process. + Assist in the coordination of the dietetic internship (DI) intern selection committee and selection of interns annually. + Review and score all MS/DI applications and evaluate for best fit to the program. + Develop and maintain MS/DI outreach and recruitment. + Develop/design communication and recruitment promotional materials, including website, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media sources. + Gather and provide data/reports to the Director as needed; to include but not limited to, Post graduate, Preceptor, and Employer surveys. + Contribute to teaching in the orientation and professional development weeks of the program and enhance presentations throughout the didactic DI class as needed. + Assist in coordinating and facilitating DI preceptor and or faculty trainings. + Engage in leadership service to the University, community and profession. + Commit to continuing professional education to maintain registration credentials and Montana Dietetic/Nutritionist Licensure. + After initial MS program set up, the Assistant Director will instruct 1- 3 courses throughout the academic year. The following list is of potential courses to be taught (but not limited to this list): + Advanced Medical Nutrition Therapy + Advanced Research & Evidence-Informed Practice + Advanced Food Systems Management. Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills + Master's Degree in Food & Nutrition, Hospitality, Nutrition Sciences, or closely related field; formal or informal teaching experience and evidence of effective teaching; and an interest in innovative teaching methods. + The qualified candidate will have professional dietetic credentialing (RDN) and demonstrated relevant experience in dietetic practice, education, or program administration. + Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills + Demonstrated advanced knowledge of clinical dietetic practice + Demonstrated experience in clinical nutrition professional practice + Demonstrated experience in an ACEND accredited dietetic education program management + Demonstrated experience in supervised practice teaching environments. + Promote the advancement of diversity. Leadership + Works well as a team member and supports the work of others through positive approaches. + Establishes and maintains a positive rapport with professional staff, faculty, preceptors and students/interns. + Committed to the MS education and internship process in preparing highly qualified dietetic professionals. + Motivates and mentors interns effectively.
