Job Description:

Director of Oncology and Infusion Center plans, organizes and directs the operation of the Oncology service line and has departmental accountability for operations and financial performance. Responsibilities include oncology program development, ensuring operational efficiencies and promotion of oncology services. Responsible for leadership and management functions of the service line and in collaboration with shared leadership for patient care delivery services. The director of Oncology and Infusion Center will assist the operations system director to ensure delivery of high quality, cost-effective, and efficient healthcare in accordance with annual operating goals, objectives, and organizational policies. With identified shared leadership, they are to successfully engage providers, staff and shared services partners (pharmacy, registry, clinical research, integrated social services) while implementing a culture of clinical and service excellence, continuous improvement, and compassionate care. Delivering project development and execution in accordance with their system directors, they will drive execution of prioritized projects related to the organization annual operating plan and oncology tactical priorities. The Director will provide a coordinated and comprehensive system of oncology care services throughout the organization and community utilizing the guidelines set forth by the ACOS Commission on Cancer. REQUIREMENTSEDUCATIONRequired:---Bachelor's degree requiredPreferred:---Graduate degree preferred (MBA, MHA, MSN or other business or healthcare related health field)LICENSURE and CERTIFICATIONRequired: Additional certification enrolled within 6 months of employment and completed in the expected normal timeframe:HFMA - Certified Specialist Physician Practice Management, or MGMA - Certified Medical Practice Executive, Project Management Certification or Coursework (PMP), Approved Oncology related certification, or Enrollment in graduate studies in a related fieldPreferred:Certification specific to oncology and/or healthcare administrationMGMA Certified Medical Practice Executive or Project Management Certification or coursework (PMP) EXPERIENCERequired: A minimum of five years healthcare management experienceAt least three of those years being in the leadership of an oncology programPreferred:Experience with business software (excel, MS word, Outlook, EHR, etc) and basic accounting principlesExperience concentration in medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion center, hospital-based physician practice, provider based clinic, or integrated ambulatory health systemFiscal management skills and proven ability to prepare, monitor and control budgetary expenses and generate increased productivity and revenuesKNOWLEDGE OF, SKILLS IN, ABILITY TO, COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULY:KNOWLEDGE OF: Knowledge of current leadership, management and clinical performance improvement conceptsKnowledge of Hospital or Provider Based billing practicesKnowledge regarding public or private budgeting practices SKILLS IN:Demonstrated leadership and complex organizational management skillsWell-developed planning, and organizational development skillsProcessing long term strategic and annual operational imperatives as related to ongoing projectsEffective interpersonal, communication and presentation skillsExperience planning and implementing organizational/system changeAnalytics and evaluating complex data sets Conflict resolution and process management ABILITY TO:Ability to handle difficult conversations or situations involving patients, physicians or others in a professional mannerAbility to work in a team environment, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail and maintain positivityAbility to identify, implement, and execute process improvement projectsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple complex projectsAbility to blend business competencies and skills with the core ideology of nursing and other clinical disciplinesDemonstrated ability to lead teams through influence and collaborationObtain and maintain oncology related accreditations COMPLEXITY AND DIFFICULTY: Work independently with minimal supervision ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS30% Time Spent- Promotes the mission, vision and values of Bozeman Health.-Identifies and supports the implementation of Bozeman Health's Operational Goals-Under the direction of their system director, facilitates successful implementation of projects related to the oncology service line-Ensures that the strategies, priorities, and operations within the cancer center are aligned and complimentary for a systematic approach to oncology services.-Responsible for ongoing projects related to implementation of strategic and operating imperatives and ensuring alignment with care system strategic planning roadmap-Assess and monitor patient satisfaction, identify opportunities for improvement in process based on feedback and report findings and recommended action plans to the system director -Builds collaborative relationships throughout the internal and external organizations of Bozeman Health-Coordinates the marketing to expand oncology services and increase market share, through both external marketing efforts and internal analysis and marketing 30% Time Spent--Provides effective and accurate communications, operations, and planning by ongoing evaluation of services, and reporting findings and recommendations to the system director. Participates in special committees and/or projects as requested by the system director.- Directs and evaluates service and/or care delivered within the oncology service line and develops action plans for operational metrics in service, access and financial performance.-Directly and with the system director, develops and administers appropriate policies, standards, practices and procedures; In collaboration with department leadership, establishes goals and objectives for each department; Assures compliance with administrative, legal and regulatory requirements-Evaluate and report assigned service areas quality metrics. Provides feedback to the system director and in collaboration with operations system director, develop short and long term action plans to improve department deficiencies. Works and trains their direct reporting staff to implement service improvements that are part of the action plan.-Continually evaluating and improving the delivery of service by initiating and promoting best practice models and facilitates continual improvement.15% Time Spent-Collaborate and assist department level operation leaders to hire and terminate staff per organization policy and procedures. Coach and mentor department leaders to ensure all defined performance and accountability standards are met. -Supports the health system with the assessment of patient and staff education needs in regard to oncology services.-Provides support and acts as a resource to clinic leadership in collaboration and alignment with shared leadership.-Recruits effectively by hiring employees whose skills and abilities significantly contribute to the achievement of operational, departmental, and team goals.10% Time Spent-Directly provides stewardship of resources through efficiency and effective operational and capital budgets. Monitors expenses and reports outcomes and variances to the system director.
