Contract Type LOA If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open General Statement The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center's (MMEC's) mission is to grow Montana's economy by helping manufacturers succeed. We accomplish this goal by providing growth, innovation, efficiency, compliance and managerial assistance to Montana manufacturers for a fee. MMEC is an outreach of the College of Engineering at Montana State University. Field Offices are located in Bozeman, Billings, Butte, Helena, Great Falls, Kalispell and Missoula, and serve the entire state. This position will be based in Billings, working independently from an office in one of our partner agencies. The territory will include the entire State of Montana. Duties and Responsibilities

• Sell and deliver growth, innovation, efficiency, compliance and managerial consulting services to Montana manufacturers.
• Proactively develop relationships with prospective and existing clients, assess clients' needs, determine strategies and action plans resulting in written proposals for contracted services with manufacturers.
• Write and review reports, and track and report project progress and develop and manage third party delivery experts.
• Develop appropriate educational materials and present public training workshops and seminars.
• Prepare end-of-project survey tools and effectively assist clients in completing post-project surveys that result in significant economic impact.
• Provide thought leadership through written articles, online and in-person presentations, and other appropriate communication methods Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Demonstrated experience with progressively increasing levels of responsibility in improving manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with business development or prospecting and consultative questioning, advising and presentation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing systems design, analysis and continuous improvement, manufacturing processes and equipment, lean manufacturing concepts, quality management systems, six sigma concepts, waste reduction, emission reduction, safety management, and product design as it relates to manufacturing.
    • Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited engineering program.
    • Master's degree in Business from an accredited business school.
    • Relevant licensing or industry recognized certifications.
    • Experience in automation/industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, industrial marketing, plant management, technical sales, food safety or product development using Solid Works software.
    • Computer-literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office and a CRM system to manage sales activity including customer visits, opportunities, project costs, and account information. The Successful Candidate Will
      • Utilize business development skills to develop strong relationships with and obtain signed project agreements from the owners and managers of manufacturing facilities throughout the state of Montana.
      • Have the ability to work as a productive member of a team of professionals that seeks to advance manufacturing in the State of Montana.
      • Possess the ability to identify manufacturing, business and engineering problems and then formulate multiple solutions for solving them, demonstrating your skills and abilities, as well as those of your team and the MEP National Network.
      • Be a self-starter who can work independently to identify, plan, organize, manage and execute projects.
      • Possess the ability to grow your network of partners and prospects through networking and other outreach methods (including cold calls).
      • Have excellent human relations skills, evidence of good judgment, flexibility and innovativeness to respond to the needs of a wide variety of clients.
      • Possess communication skills (oral, written and presentation) necessary to lead others and deal effectively with a diverse group of customers at all levels of the company. Position Special Requirements/Additional Information Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funding
        Position will be based in Billings, Montana.
        
        Position requires frequent travel by rental car or own vehicle throughout the State of Montana, including occasional overnight stays.
        
        Must possess currently, or be eligible to obtain, a valid State of Montana Driver's license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12 points), or have other reliable means of transportation. Must have access to a vehicle to use for work (mileage will be reimbursed), and have minimum vehicle liability insurance. Do NOT send a copy of the driver's license.
