DetailsGeneral StatementThe Office of Research, Economic
Development and Graduate Education is responsible for developing
and maintaining a thriving environment for faculty and student
research, as well as other creative and scholarly activities at the
University. The REDGE office also creates and administers all
policies associated with research, research compliance, animal and
human subject work, and intellectual property.Duties and
- Provide high-level fiscal management of diverse and significant
funds across multiple units and act as a independent consultant to
interpret and apply complex policies and procedures.
- Monitor multiple indexes of significant financial impact with
varied funding sources, reconcile expenditures, identify and
correct errors and develop methods to avoid recurring errors.
- Work closely with the Budget Director and other REDGE
administrators to forecast and manage spending and budgets.
- Initiate invoices to external and internal customers to collect
revenue on behalf of departments.
- Review department payroll reports, work with the Budget
Director to investigate and resolve variances.
- Generate easy-to-use, accurate and informative monthly
financial reports to enable fiscal management and
- Initiate new analyses and/or reports utilizing historic data to
create new reports to help units effectively manage finances and
anticipate future expenses.
- Facilitates interaction, form completion and compliance between
units and Procurement Services.
- Assist units in developing and maintaining minor and sensitive
- Create detailed documentation of processes and policies and
provide training to faculty, staff and students as needed.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a procedures
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place and followed.
Perform work in accordance with and ensure audit compliance with
federal, state, university system, and granting agency laws, rules,
guidelines, procedures and agreements and initiate and implement
ongoing process improvements and policy changes in areas of
- Set-up and maintain electronic and paper filing systems for all
unit records and enforce records retention policies.
- Develop an extensive network of university-wide contacts needed
to be effective in this role (i.e., know who to contact for what
information).Required Qualifications Experience, Education,
Knowledge & Skills
- High-level, complex fiscal-management work experience
emphasizing accounting and exceptional customer service, or
equivalent and relevant education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting and budgeting principles,
practices and techniques including managing, monitoring and
reconciling fiscal records; researching, compiling analyzing and
interpreting financial information; and processing accounts payable
- Demonstrated experience preparing and maintaining fiscal
reports and records with a high-degree of accuracy and exceptional
attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience organizing and prioritizing multiple
work assignments from multiple people while meeting deadlines and
exercising adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a
positive, effective, and professional approach.
- Demonstrated proficiency in appropriate computer systems and
software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.Preferred
Qualifications Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Management, or an
equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Related work experience in a university, government, or
- Experience using Banner and/or CatBooks for accounting or
- Knowledge of Federal Regulations and documents (i.e. OMB
